Minor To Moderate Flood Warning For The Barwon River

MODERATE FLOOD PEAK OBSERVED AT MUNGINDI, MODERATE FLOODING REMAINS
MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT MOGIL MOGIL FROM THURSDAY, COLLARENEBRI AND WALGETT LATE MAY
Flood waters from the Weir River (Qld) have passed through Mungindi with a moderate flood peak on Wednesday afternoon. River levels are expected to fall slowly before renewed rises and a second moderate peak are expected mid next week from the flood waters along the Macintyre River (Qld).
The flood peak from Mungindi is nearing Mogil Mogil, with further rises expected when flood waters from the Moonie River (Qld) and Macintyre River combine to reach Mogil Mogil mid next week. Minor flooding is likely along the Barwon River at Mogil Mogil from Thursday afternoon (19 May).
The flood peak is expected to move through Collarenebri in the last week of May, with minor flooding possible from late next week. The flood waters are then expected to move through Walgett late May or early June, with minor flooding possible.
Peak predictions for locations downstream of Mogil Mogil will be made once upstream peaks are observed.
River level rises have been observed at Bourke and Louth which peaked below the minor flood level, and at Tilpa where river levels should also remain below the minor flood level.
A flood warning is current for the Macintyre River and Weir River in Queensland.

Barwon River Mungindi to Collarenebri:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Barwon River at Mungindi. Minor flooding is likely at Mogil Mogil, possible at Collarenebri.
The Barwon River at Mungindi peaked at 7.06 metres around 01:00 pm Wednesday 18 May and is currently at 7.01 metres and falling slowly.
The Barwon River at Mungindi is likely to continue to fall slowly but remain above the moderate flood level (6.70 m) into next week. Renewed river level rises may reach around 7.10 metres during mid to late next week.

The Barwon River at Mogil Mogil is likely to reach the minor flood level (7.50 m) late Thursday afternoon. The river level may reach around 8.00 metres mid next week.

The Barwon River at Collarenebri may reach the minor flood level (5.80 m) late next week.

Barwon River downstream of Collarenebri to Walgett:
Minor flooding may occur along the Barwon River at Walgett.
The Barwon River at Walgett may reach the minor flood level (10.50 m) late May or early June.
