Inland Flood Warning

Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, South Australia

Final Generalised Flood Warning For The Cooper Creek
Issued at 01:53 PM CDT on Wednesday 02 February 2022
Flood Watch Number: 5

River levels along the Cooper Creek below Windorah (Qld) at Nappa Merrie are steady and below the minor flood level, following a peak close to the minor flood level early last week.
In South Australia at Cullyamurra the river level has fallen but floodwaters remain over the causeway at Innamincka. It is expected that the river level at Innamincka will generally ease slowly over the next few days. Small renewed rises from recent local rainfall are possible at both Cullyamurra and Innamincka.

Cooper Creek:
The Cooper Creek at Cullyamurra Waterhole is currently at 2.02 metres. The river level is likely to remain around the same level for the next few days before easing slowly. More signficant renewed rises are expected towards the end of February as floodwaters from the upper Cooper Creek arrive. The situation will be closely monitored and a flood warning issued if required.
Flood impacts such as inundation of flood plains, cutting of some roads and disruption to mining operations and graziers may continue.
