Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds

for South West and parts of Central Forecast Districts.

Issued at 5:34 am Thursday, 19 September 2019.

Squally winds over the southwest and about the ranges.

Weather Situation
Strong and gusty northerly winds developing today mainly over elevated areas.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Central and South West
DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible today about parts of western and central Victoria, mainly about elevated areas.
Winds are expected to increase during the morning, peaking early afternoon, with another peak expected tonight.
Locations which may be affected include Hamilton, Warrnambool, Portland, Kyneton, Ballarat and Daylesford.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Thursday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
